    Cheers,
No probs Ian! I will be renting Frank out when he is finished here. It is only fair warning though to advise that he can’t sharpen, can’t make coffee and doesn’t sing? As for 4.5mm drills ....... I have grave doubts!

Maybe your 4.5mm drill is with Chris Parks’s tape measure?

Could be, Lappa. I've heard it said that in some sheds, there are worm-holes into the fourth dimension. Anything that falls through one of those is gone forever.....

I managed a few hours in the shed today and have finally made and (temporarily) attached the legs.

The legs aren’t yet cut to length and I won’t do that until I’ve made and fitted the upper drawer level. The joints are working out as per the ‘book of Frank’...

..... even though they are still only temporary and unglued.

(I know it shouldn’t but.....) it never ceases to amaze me how much the plywood ‘webs’ stiffen up a frame.

I made some good progress in a small amount of time today but I am now in a position to be able to officially declare that building a cabinet from the inside out solves some (mostly) access issues, but opens up even more. In the balance of probabilities, it would have been better to lock in the outer dimensions and ‘fill it in’ with the internal structures ..... like I have always done before

I fear he might have been trying to warn me? Even creating Frankenstein was more difficult than I had expected. I think what I will do next time is start from the outside with usual M&T joinery but use pocket hole fastening to hold it all together AND IN SHAPE until I’ve measured, made AND FITTED all of the internal structures and only then glue from the outside in?
BTW, my new shoulder planes have been not only useful but also a joy to use !

The breaks are very clean (including the ones with a bit of blood on them!) but I’m reluctant to put repaired antique tiles onto a new piece of furniture? If it was a restoration or repair, I might be tempted? This is a ‘clear light of day’ issue not the ‘oh sh*t, what have I done, I’ll drink another few rums and coke’ issue like it currently is?
I have tracked down some replica tiles but these were THE REAL THING !

    Bugger poop sh*t and damn!

I'm with Mick - I'd rather see a well repaired original than a potentially cruddy looking repro. It will stick out like Rocket's........eyes, whereas the fine glue line in a good repair will be as hard to spot as Rocket's brain.

The problem will be that one repro amongst 2 genuines will have an oh so slightly different colour which will be seen from any distance away from the piece - particularly under different light sources.

The cracks will only be seen from close up.

OK, Ive got one whole undamaged tile from the 4 I started with. Once my hands stop shaking from the remedial rum, which should be about Wednesday, I’ll have a go at gluing/repairing the others? Thanks for the support and consolation, I feel a right twit!
