Newbie Tv Unit Advice Please
Hi There,
I'm looking to build(first choice) or have built(2nd choice) a new Tv unit, as none of the 'bought' ones will fit my equipment. See attached sketches.

Attachment 155107
I prefer option 2 where the ends are book-ended(is that a word?) onto the shelves. And then use dowel bolts as in the other pictures.

So my questions are,
1, What would a good timber to use? The unit will be stained with Japan Black.
2, If I was to use plywood(leaving the edges sealed but not stained), what ply would you recommend.
3, Would Solicore doors be an option(for the shelves, not the ends or supports)? As the only tools I have are the basics.Drills, etc.
My pc table is a hollowcore(with Japan Black) door sitting on 2 filing cabinates, basic but works.
Any/all advice appreciated,
Cheers
