    Default North Devon Cat Condominium

I’ve been staying with my brother and sister in beautiful North Devon for several weeks. They live in a small fishing village called Combe Martin which is one of many historic area’s of south west England.

During my stay my brother asked if I’d be interested in designing and building something in the garden for their two cats, obviously I jumped at the chance, however I don’t think my dear brother knew what he was letting himself in for working with me!.

Even though my brother Joe is skilled with traditional tools (hammer & saw) I convinced him to at least get a circular saw to speed up the process. We got a pile of decking boards, fence posts, shiplap and set about building my design. Joinery is very basic, dowel & screw, glue.
It made such a lovely change to be woodworking outside in the peace and quiet of the English countryside with only the birds chirping and chime of the village church bells to remind me of what time it was!.

    Here it is finally complete.

Will be back in the workshop next month!.

Crikey - that's more of a penthouse than a condo. And with a concrete foundation it's probably better built than the old house!

People are asking me if I could build them one over here in the UK. I worked out the cost of the timber comes to around 500 pounds sterling but how much should someone charge for labour?. The thing stands at 8ft!
