Oh no, I've slid over to the dark side . . . I built a Bench Seat
I rarely play with flat work, but occasionally someone challenges me and I foolishly accept the challenge
Mission : A bench seat
Design: What ever you think is suitable . . . (Oh dog, I gotta think)
Material: What ever you think, I'd prefer hardwood . . .
Timeline: Given notice February, finish late September . . . (plenty of time . . . )
So I set about researching Bench seat designs and couldn't find one to suit my (Lack of) ability, so I winged it
Finished size 1800 long, 950 high and is definitely a Two man lift.
All joints are pinned Mortice and Tenon. The Seat and Back rest are pinned. All pins custom turned. (Whoo, I got some turning in)
Timber, nice light, soft, easy to work . . . Spotted Gum for seat and backrest and Brush Box for the frame. Thanks to Mal Ward for the timber and delivering it.
Trials . . . Just moving the Spotty slabs and storing them for acclimatisation 2200ish long by 500ish wide.
Bending the Holesaw arbor on the last @@#$%^# hole in the Brush Box for the Thru pins for the backrest.
All in all a worthwhile experience . . . now to re-organise my dust collection.

It is good to see that you have build something. Nicely done and finished.
Just one point to mention as I was under the impression that the dark side is when you build something using hand tools not when you build something flat.
