Outdoor Chaise Lounge with Pallet Wood
G'day All,
First time posting on WoodWorkForums. Hope everyone had a safe and fantastic Christmas.
Reason for my post is I would like some advice, hints, tips or things to be wary of before I attempt my first DIY project.
I am in the the design phase using Sketchup Make 2017. I have constructed the frame in 3D but as this is my first time I would like to know if what I have designed will be structurally ok?
I plan on using screws only, glue if I have to. The frame will be constructed into 3 pieces as I am restricted by lengths of the pallets which is 1135mm x 90mm x 25mm (give or take). I have chosen my cushions which are 620mm x 620mm x 110mm, the frame is designed around the cushion size.
This project will also act as storage, using the seating as a lid to stow away the cushions or any other items.
Here is a picture of my design so far:

Thank you all in advance for your time and effort in assisting me.
Regards
Corry

I would probably go for something thicker in the corners and anything where you're screwing into endgrain so you can screw safely into it without splits. You can get 90x35 or 90x45 framing pine for a few dollars per metre. Other than that it looks pretty sound to me.

Just curious - have you given any thought on making the storage bug/pest intrusion safe? We're distant neighbors and if spiders, lizards, geckos and what nots are as rampant in your neck of the woods, the storage will be pretty grotty in no time.
