Plans for futon (foldable sofa)
hi,
basically title says it all, i plan on making it all out of tasmanian oak and then get it profesionally upholsted. Only thing is, i need plans, i can make all the frame and that, jus tno idea how to make it fold.
please help

that futon just uses a routed groove and thick dowels. let me know if you want better photos of the folding 'mechanism'

thanks, are you able to more pictures of the mechanism. Could you get any measurements if possible, i have absolutly no idea how to do mechanism, only have a simple design for the sides

just been thinking, how would you go about using rope to hold the back up and then lower it.
You could drill a hole, tie a knot on the back, then tie off on a bolad on each of the sides, only worry is, would it be strong enough. then doing this, you would have to do something for the back as it would be balanced in the middle.
So you would have to do something with the legs,whether they were hinged from the under neath, who knows.
