    Not at all sure I like this idea, Ian. A through-tenon wedged into a flared hole makes a pretty solid joint - even without glue, I've not seen too many let go or rotate. Flaring the hole in an oval shape & orienting the wedge so it fills the voids forms a pretty thorough lock, and if you are the belts-&-braces type, adding some glue should be more than enough insurance. Slotting the wedges into the sides of the hole as well seems like an extreme measure to me, and would increase the risk of splitting the receiver if you got a bit too enthusiastic driving it in....
