Spectacular Pete! A worthy winner, and congratulations.

I saw some pics of the Maleny show (from Dai Sensai I think). The table was amongst them and so I figured it was yours (hadn't seen the completed article at that point, but not too many around looking similar to this gem).

Definitely an antique of the future there!

    Cheers

    Congrats on the Wootha!

I hope that you haven't raised the bar too high for next years' entrants...

Fabulous job, PJT, on the table once again, and great news on the Wootha prize, congratulations. And what a bonus for us forumites to be able to see the Wootha prize winning entry being created.

Thank you for the update and the final work in progress photos. It is great to have recognition from others on a item that you created, very well done.

Thanks all for the congratulations, entries in Wootha ranged from found bits of wood to fine carving to fine furniture, there was some discussion regarding how the judges would judge something like this, I guess it depends on each judges preferences.

For those that haven't seen the other entries I hope this is OK to show them here
    028 (500x375).jpg040 (375x500).jpg039 (375x500).jpg038 (500x375).jpg037 (375x500).jpg036 (500x375).jpg035 (500x375).jpg034 (500x375).jpg033 (500x375).jpg032 (500x375).jpg031 (500x375).jpg030 (375x500).jpg029 (500x375).jpg042 (375x500).jpg

The theme was "on four legs", there was a good spread of entries awarded prizes, peoples choice went to the unicorn.

And to finish I loaded the vid of cutting the veneers onto utube so will see if that works, I reduced the vids further but still couldn't load them direct onto here???

You can hear the blade complaining a bit as the width of the work increases, it was cutting alright tho so I continued on....

But, but, the Unicorn is only on 2 legs (ok, ok plus 1 tail)

Certainly a very high standard for you to beat there Pete. I'd love to have seen some of those in the "real".

The table with the blue mineral slices looks intriguing (even though I'm not a fan of blue dyed minerals). I have a not-unrelated idea for a coffee table....one day.....

Stunning table mate. I wish my work got more jobs like this but designers/clients don't seem to have the imagination. Very nice work.

Exactly what i was going to say :P

I think it's a bit hard to judge a piece of furniture against a sculture but i guess it's all artwork. I'd pick the furniture every time though, because it's practical.

The blue slices are glass, 3 pieces, the two at back had some form of treatment, something painted on the surface of the glass for different effect, the glass represents the glass house mountains, it was to have the peak but disaster stuck it's head in and said no, under the glass is a row of LEDs which did look good

    Cheers
