Default Recycled pallet wood mini picnic table

    Howdy there.

I've got a heap of hardwood pallets and recycled timber so I decided that it was time to start putting it to good use. I wanted to make something for my son for Xmas so decided to try my hand at making a scaled down picnic table for him.

I have a thicknesses/planer but decided it was a good excuse to buy a jointer, so took a trip to Carbatec and got their 6" long bed.

A bit of trial and error and YouTube hints on techniques and I think I have it down pat now. Got to say though that the pallet wood takes a toll on the blades, it might pay to hit the boards with a soda blast first or at the very least a steel brush to remove and bits of junk.

It was the first bigger project that I've taken on but I think it came up pretty good?

I used a water based Cedar stain as I figured that Seb would likely drop food on it over the (hopeful) years of use.

The wife has tasked me with making a bed frame for him next. Just need to decide on a car theme or a camping theme.

yep anything that looks suspicious beforehand, hit it with a steel brush. I go as far as to get a screwdriver or chisel to dig out the rocks and stones which like to embed themselves deep into the surface.
