    Default finish

I was going to follow clawhammers advice,320 grade sand, then 5 coats of FeastWatson tung oil satin floor sealer. Light sand between coats, then rub it back 1200 wet/dry 50/50 linseed oil turps, then 0000 steelwool same mix. Im hoping that it will be tough enough after that. Claw builds a lot of tables ,I love his workso hoping to get as close as I can to that standard Hope springs eternal I have a redgum bar thats just tungoil finish & its been great but thats tough old redgum not soft cedar.

    Default hole work

Nesxt time, I'll make sure Mal gives you some BIG holes to play with.
The timber and concept is great and it seems as if you're having a lot of fun, which is what this is all about.
Look forward to seeing the finished piece.
    Regards
    Greg

I suppose it's a little too late to tell you but good to know anyways for anyone else embedding fishing lures in their tables/bar knotholes

-there's a railway modellers kit that's a blue epoxy waved water finish that ends up quite realistic and could have made a little sea theme....

You could also route some tracks going past the scenic lake for the beer train (had to mention it- back when I was a drinker was fascinated with the idea of having a train track going through the rooms into the bathroom so the wife could send a cold one through when relaxing in the bath)

Greg- maybe you should bring some branch offcuts/slices from the farm for plugging when there's more hole than knot!

Moikel- where in Camperdown was Wildwood? Just curious as it's my suburb and I thought I could put names to most of the joints around here....

    Cheers,

    Default wildwood

It was opposite King Furniture on southern side Parra rd.Theres still a bunch of furniture shops there between Johnstone st & ?? that runs past Maccas opposite Annandale hotel. I think they have a shop in Victoria rd Gladesville as well.

    Default resin final

Point was to put a few bits of my personal history in the resin,I was always a fisherman, my late fathers cufflinks, Canadian flag.I am terrible at fiddley finely calibrated things my model airplanes as a child were always the ones we set on fire to replicate the Battle of Britain my little bro's were kept for future conflicts as they were so neat. Im pretty happy to have pulled this off with only a few bubbles in the resin, I may not even sand it just brush the finish straight over the top.

    Looks great.

Sorry I missed your progress pic on 15th but next time if you want to get rid of those bubbles like the ones near the red and white lure you might just use a small round cutter on the dremel to destroy them before the next pour.

Which resin product did you end up using?

You might want to sand it just to make sure it's level with the rest of the top.

    I agree looks great

I'd also sand flush - if it's a little bumpy some galoot will put his glass there and it will be unbalanced and the "Little Creatures" pale ale will get spilt, and that would be a shame,

    Default sanding

If I get some shims under slab & tilt it the tiniest bit I think I can top up the area thats just a little low. My work space has some major limitations. It just came out so brilliantly clear that Im worried I will screw up the look by sanding it. Ive sanded all the edges where it overran no problemI used the epoxy casting resin from Barnes,I didnt notice bubbles in first clear pour because I covered it up to stop dust/dog hair etc blowing in then had to have phone conference for 45mins .I got most of them out in later pours by pricking them with a needle. Thanks for the encouragement
