Great Job!!! Absolutlely love it. Just showed the boss the photos and told her thats what i'd love to have a go at making. She rolled her eyes and says great another half finished project, but if you do make it can you make it extendable... no pleasing some people.

Really nice job. Well done. I like the look of the top being in line with the apron and legs. And I understand the need to keep SWMBO happy. One possibility is to use a shadow line of, say, 5mm of darker timber to separate the top from the frame. Looks good and gives enough of a gap to hide some of the inevitable flaws that only you will see.
Most of all, good job with the domino. I'm not fortunate enough to have one, so I might try a long-term dining table project and test my luck!

Hi Sandow,
Sorry for the late reply, computer / email problems. At least I can put a piece of wood on the table saw and punish it buy cutting the sh#t out of it when it doesn't co-operate.... although???
I finished it with Organoil Hard Burnishing Oil (HBO). I sanded dry to 400 then added the oil and sanded wet up to 2000. The oil and sawdust turns into a slurry and acts as a grain filler. Underneath is just a couple of coats rubbed in with a cloth for protection.
And thank you forumites for your comments. To me it means I'm on the right track for the stuff I make and how I make it.
Cheers
