Hey Springy, that was just on the lowest speed the beautiful GMC drill press only has plastic pullys so doest do SPEED well. The bit was just the standard 12mm straight dado bit from a $20 set. Line em up, drop in 3-4mm and wind it along drop another 4 -5 and go again. Pretty fast, as Fletty told told me. With a desent drill press it would be even faster. The beautiful GMC has a bit of slop in the shaft too but not enough to be an issue. If I did a lot of them I could see it wrecking bearings etc on such a cheap machine. ( I ended up with the GMC by accident, I went to the hardware near home and said to the young guy I wanted a drill press for a hand drill, you know the ones you can bolt your hand drill in. I have a Hitachi two speed hammer drill that is a beast. When it turned up, this is what I had but for $99 I didn't realy care) Stich n bitch, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near them, I know at least 3 out of the group and trust me it would be NO place for a man.

Hey Springwater, I looked at them on ebay approx $100 with freight but found them at the local gasweld for $75. Cheaper than any morticer. Even if you had to buy a cheap drill press it would work out very reasonable.

I've often thought about an XY vice for just that. But I've got a Domino.

Still it might happen one day, if the shed gods (SWMBO) smiles upon me.

Yeah it was the "Cheaper than any morticer" theory I was thinking about, thanks Craw. I've got a drill press which I've only used for drilling holes in wood, it's 16spd but I've never felt the need to change the "factory settings" of the belt/pulley set-up

Christos, you've seen me, youtube isn't big enough to fit me on there
I'll just have to do more woodwork.
Tomorrow I am working in my veggie garden in the morning and in the art gallery all afternoon gallery sitting. I will take a few shots there for tomorrow nights shots. A change from woodwork. No dancing

ah yes, that has got me into a lot of trouble over the years. Was that the "warm friendly" one or the "I've got you now" smile?
