Even if you never make another thing again, you have certainly given your mate something that bears testimony to both your character and your skills, no, craftsmanship is more appropriate.

I know that everyone following this is now inspired to a higher level of achievement, thank you.
The person who never made a mistake never made anything

    Cheers

Just back to my caravan now. Had to finish early. It was either finish early or start a chainsaw up under the house at cloae to midnight. Dont think that would have gone down well wirh the neighbours.

Off to find your new thread

Wow...that looks absolutely sensational. Your mate will be stoked with that, I know I certainly would be.

I have to admit, I was a bit iffy about the size of the lettering (i'm more of the type to have it a bit smaller, maybe in the top at one of the corners) but it looks great with the light contrasted against the beautiful dark main timber.

Awesome....something to cherish for a lifetime.

    Thanks Steven.

Graeme was ecstatic when I gave it to him yesterday.

The text size was the very first thing that I wanted to incorporate from the onset. The second thing was the handle detail and third was the inlay mouldings. The rest of the tool chest design grew from those initial design details.

It really was fun to make.

    Regards

    Pete.

I hope it gets used. Otherwise, how will it get a beautiful aged patina over the next 100+ years, like this old chest?

It needs to be bashed around a bit..... and double ,

So long as I don't have to see it get it's first dent and scratches.

    Hi Dave.
Yeah, have got a lot on at the moment. Not complaining though.

I have been skulking around some of the older threads this week. It's amazing how much is on this Forum. I reckon I'll be reading for months or more.

I miss doing my write up each night after I did a bit of work on Graeme's Tool Chest. I can't start the write up of the Crows Ash Benchtop just yet either.
I think I need another pet project (like a hole in the head). I'm thinking of a big fancy Tool Wall Cabinet for myself. Something a bit special. I've got a hand plane collection that needs a fitting home.

    Pete.
