Walnut Stool for Hand Tools Skills
Just had 4 day break form Tables and commissions and got back to real basics.
The Stools was inspired by V.J. Taylor. On the surface it looks pretty straight forward but as the project continues there are some fascinating challenges facing the builder.
I'll let you nut some of them out. I gained much respect for the craftsman of old with limited schooling and tools they still made useful and sturdy furniture that still survives to this day.
Allow 3 days for the Construction and 1 Day for the carving,
I know it would be quicker with noisy things but the experience was well worth it.
I had a lump of Qld. Walnut that was of no practical use full of splits and cracks leaning up against the wall so I attacked it.
I did make a couple of concessions on this exercise one was limited use of a bandsaw and a skim on the thicknesser.
However that was not as straight forward as first thought either.
I'll let the pictures tell the story.
Cheers

.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
