    AV Units (2 identical)

This was my first use of waterfall panels ... and it went really well.

Finished in waterbased matt poly .... although the grainfill makes it look gloss from this angle.

The watefall look is created by having the grain continuously flow up the side, across the top and down the other side.

The cases of AV Units are 2300 long, 420 wide, and the sides are 350 high. Three 140 wide X 35 thick boards ... each 3300mm long were edge glued.

Then side A was cut to 350mm with a 45 degree bevel on both ends. The piece for the top was then 45 degree bevel cut so that grain flowed from one piece to the other. Then side B was cut.

I use biscuits to join the bevel cuts in place as they were glued together. I nailed triangular pieces to the units so that I could apply good clamping pressure. The nail holes were small and some dark woodfiller did the trick.

Here is the filing cabinet showing the continuation of grain around the unit.

The bottoms of the AV Unit cases had 35mm thick front and back rails and 35mm cross pieces.

Once the cases were glued together it was a small task to get the mitre joins perfect using the plane and sandpaper.
