    Default WIP - drug table

After a few visiting detectives came into the office the other day the poor old Ikea coffee table was a bit beyond repair so I got the job to make a new one. The idea is to try and embed various deal bags in the top as a feature. First go with glass coat so figured I'd have a play. It's rather a chunky table but given the use and abuse it's going to be subjected to it'll need to be.

    Comments and suggestions welcome.

Geez, I thought I'd heard it all, but that is so different, but so appropriate for detectuves.

Unfortunately the boss veto'd the idea of putting any seized plants or pills in the table top. Probably due to the fact that it would then have to be stored in the safe.

The glass coating went ok, I forgot to compensate for the fact that the bags still had a little bit of air in them and some have risen slightly on one edge. I superglued them in position first but should have done all corners or sliced the bags in half so they wouldn't come up.

Can you sand the glass coat stuff?

Going with Poly over the top due to the abuse it's going to receive so hopefully that will disguise most of the glass coat that has seeped into the grain under the tape.

This is Alice Springs, either take a hard wood with finger joins or some 90x90 pine.. our hardwood supply is rather limited unless you want Mulga. Also the fact that it's being used at work I wasn't prepared to spend the extra to get anything decent sent up.

Looks good Craig, I could see a couple of "interstaters" resting a cold on it.

Finished it up with some coats of poly today and added a bottle opener to each side.
