I know where you're coming from Ray. Ok couple of pics of it with the first coat of poly on. The grain is still coming though sweet. Tomorrow I will drill the holes in the channels, clean them up and get the first coat on.
Excuse the odd angles on the pics I was trying to avaid glare from the lights etc

The Japan Black really highlights the grain and the top would look even better in real life.
I've just become an optimist . Iv'e made a 25 year plan -oopps I've had a few birthdays - better make that a 20 year plan

Hi Guys, I haven't posted lately on this, it has just been geting more coats on etc
Few shots here of Saturdays and todays efforts. Drilling the holes in the leg channels,cleaning and smoothing (last shot), painting with black hammertone, Oh yeh I had to cut a large X on the underside of the slabs to release some of the tension in the slabs both have a bit of a twist. I hoped once I screwed them to the steel they would come to the party but oh no I had to get rough with them. They are now sitting flat on the steel with couple of timber shims. Top is polished and looking pretty good. Tomorrow I just have to tidy them up and do any finishing touches.

Ok, I have mastered the beast and its sitting flat etc fiddled around and tidyed it up today ready for delivery to Randwick tomorrow arvo. Couple of pics in the park behind my workshop. Hung my "new" Bad Axe 18" rip back saw on the tool wall haven't cut anything yet, it's still a virgin I will find something to cut with it tomorrow.
