Woodworking Mentor/Guru Wanted in Perth
Hi all
Hope this is the right place to post this.
Been a while since I posted on here. Will try and keep a long story short but basically I enjoy working with wood but haven't made time to do it anywhere near enough over my lifetime (37 yrs).
I did really enjoy furniture woodworking at school and revisited that a couple of times over the years investing in some paid hours at Perth Wood School to make myself a work bench and then a beautiful queen bed out of Vic Ash and Jarrah which is still going strong and I expect will outlast me.
Anyway, I've recently completed a few renovations at our house (with my wife of course) including kitchen and dining and now I really want to make myself a nice Marri slab table but I don't really know where to start and my shed is just not set up properly so I'm hoping there's a woodworking guru out there that would be interested in sharing their knowledge and skills (and workshop ) to help me create my very own masterpiece of a timber table.
I'm trying to keep the costs down but am more than happy to chip in for machinery maintenance etc and keep the bar fridge stocked in exchange for your help.
I work full time so am thinking the odd evening and/or weekend whenever suits you really.
Hit me up if you think you can help me out. I'm based in East Vic Park (WA) and would prefer somewhere close by.
Looking forward to hearing from someone.
Cheers

You could try your local Men's Shed, mine has plenty of old awesome geezers who are more than happy to share their knowledge. It also has a bunch of industrial type machinery that I couldn't afford.

Thanks Twist. I was googling Men's Sheds before I posted this last night. I might go and check them out. Or I might take the easy option and just pay someone to make the table for me.
