Fitting thread chasing dial.
Finally got a thread chasing dial and was wondering how people have theirs attached. There is obviously some part missing from my apron. Pics would be much appreciated. There was a crappy piece of C section aluminium there originally, but it went missing (along with some screws) during the dis-assembly/reassembly. It would be good to know what's supposed to be there. Look forward to your advice.

Chasing dial
Hi Mob, attached to the thread dial should be a 5/16" piece of round rod this is inturn fitted into the end of the apron and held in place by a unused tapped hole in the face of the apron
This rod is a push in fit for both apron and thread dial please see picture
all the best Derek

Probably not but you never Know they may have changed there casting pattern.
What is the Centre Distance from the Tapped hole at the Far Right Hand end of the Carriage to the Under Side Face of where the Cross Slide screws to the Carriage.
What is the Diameter of the hole as well.

Pipeclay,
the distance between the threaded hole centre to the underside of the saddle is 23mm. The threaded hole takes a 5/16th bolt and aligns perfectly with the grub screw marks on the thread dial. On closer inspection, I'm pretty sure the apron was modified, because the cutaway is not quite square. I should have something rigged up by tomorrow. Thanks all for the interest, will let you know just as soon as I fail. Probably by tomorrow night.

Looks like they may of enlarge the grub screw hole I think they should be 1/4",it dosent matter.
The position of the chasing dial to the End of the Carriage dosent really matter either as long as the Centre Distance is correct 15/16".
Not sure what you will do,but I would consider making a block with a tapped hole to locate with the tapped hole in your Carriage,I would make the block long enough so that it sits proud of the carriage by 3/4" to 1",I would then drill a hole to locate the rod that should be attached to your Chasing at the correct Centre distance from the Underside of your Carriage and then drill and tap the block so you can lock the Chasing Dial in position.
