The preservation grease is easily removed by wiping the machine with kerosene or very carefully with petrol (gasoline) to dissolve it...

If you do a Google search, you'll find a number of Torrents of the Hercus manual.

Ive been waiting to see someone respond to your rather rude and curt post ,I think our Australian friends are to polite. You should seek your answer here Practical Machinist - Largest Manufacturing Technology Forum on the Web they will have no problem telling you were to go.

It is not difficult at all, but if you would like some body to take up there time, to scan this for you, and then down load the file, this is not the way to ask for help.

There used to be pdf manuals for earlier Hercus 9 inch lathes which are almost identical for most parts mechanically to the Hercus 260, which just had a cast iron box enclosing the pulleys if I recall correctly. So any Hercus nine inch lathe manual should be of some use to you Stannum. Also early Hercus 9 inch lathes are very similar to the American South Bend 9 inch lathes.
