If by specific you mean factory recommended, not as far as I know.

You have the choice to lift it any way you wish.

Caution would be advised not to lift off any part that may get damaged.

Thanks, I will try a couple of slings. One near the rear and one towards the headstock.

If you lift from under the bed, you should have no problems.

If you were trying to find an appropriate lift point, you could place 1 sling around the bed web nearest the Headstock and another around the 3rd web from the Headstock, wind the carriage for or aft to assist in weight transfer.

Allternatively lift with a suitable lift plate attached to the underside of the bed neareat to the headstock, this will require only a single lift point, you will have to counteract horizontal lift with carriage and tailstock.

    Default lift

Can you disassemble it before lifting it ?

When I picked up the Sheraton.. I took along a bush pole to support the guys roof truss ..I jammed the pole under his truss , in the middle, we then lifted it up with a chain block and I backed the trailer under it . I wouldn't do it that way again, it was too scary .

My XF Falcon really struggled towing it home ...up hills.

I unloaded it by myself , reversing the above method . But it's maybe better to pull it apart and move it disassembled . It only takes a while with spanners to pull the lathe down.

It currently is disassembled, but I want to put it all together and then make sure it's working properly before I move it into it's proper location.

I might try making up a lift plate for it, I think I have some 12mm plate around and an eye bolt. Will make things easier the next time I have to move it aswell.

If you make up the lifting plate have the eye bolt or your lift point above the top of the bed by a couple of inches.

Also on the bottom side of the bed there is a recess,if you can make your lift plate fit in there you will stop a bit of slip, rather than having it just sitting on the bottom of the bed.

I tried putting a couple of slings between the webs on the bed in various positions but the lathe just wanted to tip over as soon as I lifted it off the ground, not very safe.

Then I decided to go with a single sling accross the bed and I used a peice of wood to protect the leadscrew, moving the saddle and tailstock allowed me to have a perfectly balanced & level load.

Hope this can help someone in the future.
