    Default Attaching Patterns

Normally I attach my patterns using spray adhesive but last time I restocked I could only get Fullers Spray Adhesive. I am not particularly happy with this product as it is very difficult to remove when it has been applied directly to the work. I know I could apply the pattern over painters tape but these are production items and spray adhesive is quicker.

Question what do other scrollers use here?

I used to use a spray adhesive from "Bunnings" & it worked quite well but can't remember the brand name, then I found one at our local" spotlight" store & it is called crafters choice spray adhesive,It also was a tad cheaper. I spray the wood & the back of the pattern & I find that if I brush some turps over pattern when the job is complete after a few minutes the pattern will peel off quite easily. Cheers Peter

Thanks for the idea Peter, I haven't got a Spotlight store nearby but have a Lincraft. They have lots of crafty stuff. The Fullers brand adhesive is the only one i could get at Bunnings and Masters ??

I make a photocopy or laser print, mirror image if possible (although if not, the back of the workpiece can be the front afterwards). Attach it to the workpiece face down, with the attachment, e.g. staples, outside the image area. Set a clothes iron at its highest heat (usually Linen), and go over the back of the print. The laser print or photocopy is an acrylic emulsion, and the heat transfers it to the work. Remove the attachments and proceed. Easiest cleanup I know.

Do this when SWMBO is absent. A soldering iron also works, but is much more tedious.

    Cheers,
    Joe

Thanks Joe! Your suggestion is worth a try, although, for me, not very convenient when scrolling away from my shop at demos etc.
