Thread: Blades and dust masks

Ditty,
We have had a Delta Q3 for a number of years now. Initially used Olsen blades but now much prefer Niqua Fix Reverse blades .
Available from MIK . My wife uses it much more than I, cutting a hell of a lot of MDF, 3mm thru 18mm. These blades leave a very smooth finish with no final sanding required. Buy a gross (144) of them if you can, much cheaper.
Cutting a lot of MDF requires wearing a full face filtered mask. Hope this helps.

I get my flying dutchman scrollsaw blades from Neil Schulz in Adelaide. Have heard he will be at the Sydney show demonstrating the Hegner saw as he usually does at the other shows so will catch up with him there.

I dont use a dust mask myself although I probably should.

Flying Dutchman blades-never heard of them.
They must be good by the number of forum members using them. I'd like to give them a go.
Could someone tell me where I can buy them.
Unfortunately I don't think I can get to Sydney Show to check them out.

I picked up some Makita scroll saw blades today. All I could get in local hardware and dont know much about them but would also like to know how to get onto some Flying Dutchmen blades. I know I cant get to any of the wood working shows stuck out here in the bush.

(03)5382 6224 or [email protected] are advertising they sell German scrollsaw blades so they could be flying dutchman too. They seem to be little dearer than Neil though.

A follow up to My Makita blades for Delta scroll saw. I didnt like them. The piece at the top and the bottom that you insert in the machine was narrower than the ones I have been using and I found them hard to control - couldnt follow the line it kept wandering so I took it out and put a bluntish crown tooth blade of the original brand and worked like a charm; followed the line beautifully. Perhaps it was just me but I wont be using them again. oh yes and it went blunt very quickly - according to the packet it should have been able to handle the wood that I was using.
Just to change the subject can anyone tell me how I can cut the inner lines that dont have a piece that you remove (hard to find the right words) but by using a drill just big enough to thread the blade through it leaves a round hole. Is there a blade that cuts a thicker line so the drill hole doesnt show???
