I can show this to my friend here in Bendigo who has a laser cutter/engraving machine Shannon, if you need that.

What thickness of material and what species are you thinking?

Looking at about 15” in height, no preference on the type of wood, maybe something with some nice grain and my daughter loved the dark colour of the original, which I believe was Baltic birch? All I know is the original was cut out of Baltic birch ply wood! I don’t mind what the thickness is, maybe up to 25mm?

The proble is that the seller on eBay is in America, and refuses to post to Australia as the only negative feedback he ever got was from the one time he posted to Australia, the person complained about the shipping costs! So I can’t get it from him

15" high. Means that it would definitely need to be a ply for strength, lots of fragile bits there, too many for a single layer of wood. Probably 1/2 ply, so that pretty much counts laser out. You'd need to talk to some of the guys who do scroll saw work Shannon.

Oh, and Simplicity is dead right. Ethically, is it right to straight out copy someone else's work???

To copy someone else's work without permission ? I wouldn't think that would be appreciated.

But have you asked him for his permission to make a one of copy for your daughter as he won't ship here. Seems the right thing to do.

    Can't see why he wouldn't ship... https://m.ebay.com/itm/Jesus-Outstre...1/121485905509

What is truly amazing is that he's sold 196 of these.

Looking around using Google images it wouldn't appear that this design is unique. There are a few pix going back to the 60's showing similar work.

Looking at his Bio and eBay he seems like a really passionate and accommodative guy. I'd send him an email to do a special order.

    Default The plot thickens...

Here is the original digital art file:

    https://www.etsystudio.com/listing/5...oss-embroidery

One can buy the the file and print it to any size you choose. The license fully allows the OPs intended purpose.

I'd be happy to make it if the OP still wishes to commish.

Maybe one of our USA friends on the forum can help you out with purchasing and redirecting it to you.

Or use myus.com, who are a re-shipper, to get around the problem of exhorbidant shipping.
