Default Decisions, Decisions, Which Scroll Saw to Purchase

Hi eyeryone, I am looking to buy a scroll saw have been checking the forums and it seems Hegner wins hands down but being on a pension I can't afford the big bucks. Looking at an Excallibur, much cheaper. The main consideration must be 'quiet operation'. Feedback on both the Excallibur and where best to purchase would be appreciated. I live in Sale,VIC.

I am a bit surprised that no one has replied after this time, so while I do not have much experience, I will add my two cents worth.

I had an old saw that was noisy and vibrated a lot so wanted to upgrade and came to a similar conclusion ie. either a Hegner or Excalibur. Cost was a factor, so started thinking more about the Excalibur.
Then I started reading some bad reports about Excalibur. Then lots of good reports about much cheaper machines so decided to buy an interim machine until I knew how much scrolling I may do.

I bought a secondhand Woodman for $100 and while it has some issues it is better than what I was using .

I also found a few good second hand Hegners and Excaliburs but location was always an issue, but it is worthing keeping a look out.

A few recent posts have been suporting Trupro so I would suggest ou keep reading and researching.

    General Scroll Saw : CARBA-TEC

found my new scroll saw, 21"

spoke to tony today at the wwwshow $999 was not in today's budget. So will pick one up in a month or so.
spoke to two others on the carbatec stand prior and totally understand how others feel about carbatec I too was looking for some customer service by a knowledgable glad I found tony.
the saw is near enough to same as Excalibur, only uses pinless blades, variable speed, the table stays flat but the blade swivels which is good as it keeps your workpiece flat
    cheers
