dw788 vibration problem
hi scrollers...i have as dw788 that has started vibrating. i have taken the saw apart and checked all links and they seem to be in good shape. i'm not sure what to do next. when i turn the speed up to 6 its vibrating the worst. blade tension is good so i know that isnt an issue and all bolts are screws are tight. any advice is greatly appreciated. thanks.

All the joints are well greased no joint is becoming dry and offering some resistance?
Have you had the machine long - is there likely to be wear in a component?
Has the machine operated fine for some time then suddenly started vibrating?
Oh and welcome aboard - hopefully someone here can assist you.Cheers

It's possible you have a dry joint - especially if it worked previously alright and most likely with oil in place.
I am no expert, but I would carefully dismantle and grease all the joints looking for wear or any bearings that are lose as I went.
I have bought machines in the past and had to replace bearings within a few hours of use from new - made in China of course
If you aren't up to dismantling the thing - you can always use a service outlet or depot.
I have the dewalt 788 and don't need to bolt it down and don't have any vibration issues.Cheers

Vibration - I've had my DW788 DeWalt to bits and it's still not right
I did find some weird things though -
The drive motor shaft has a small counter weight and a drive eccentric. This has a 5/16" (about) left hand threaded shaft.
When I took the saw apart this left threaded shaft had no nut on it. Nor was there a nut inside the housing.
Is there supposed to be a nut? And if not - what secures the connecting rod to the eccentric?
Also; as I recall; originally there was no free motion in the blade mount arms. Now these are free to move up and down, independent of the drive mechanism, about an inch.
No moving parts seem to be badly worn and they move freely.
Where does this 'play' come from?
How can I remedy it?
Any ideas? <g>

I just fixed a vibration issue with my scroll saw, it was where the arm to counterweight joint connects, the bolt was loose. It made it wobble and vibrate all over the place, I thought it was just worn out. I snugged the bolt back up and it took most of the slack and wobble out of it. Overall the saw has seen a lot of use though, some some wear in it is to be expected.
Perhaps you just need a nut on your threaded shaft? Any looseness in the joint there seems to really effect it.

Dewalt parts diagram
Don't know if this will help you check to see if you are missing any parts, but here is a site with a map of all the parts, and their layout. They will also supply any of the parts you might need.
