Default Fired Up My Scroll Saw

I've always had a scroll saw of some sort in my shop for as long as I have had a work shop, but rarely used it. Once in a while I would scroll something small to support another project. Several years ago I upgraded to a DeWalt scroll saw, thinking a better saw, I would use it more. But, it sat and collected dust created from my other tools. A few weeks ago I got a hankering (American slang for desire) to give some scrolling a try on a more serious note. First I upgraded my saw a little, added a foot switch, a magnifying light and a lift for the arm. Purchased an assortment of Flying Dutchman blades and gave it a shot. I find I really am enjoying the scrolling and what to expand into some intarsia in the future. Anyway, I thought I'd display some of my first real attempts and ask for critics and comments for improvement.

This was my first attempt using a nice pattern I got from the internet:

Second project was and is making a couple flags to put on an organ cart I have recently built to put my crank organ on. I down loaded the free pattern from Wood Magazine. This is really a pretty simple intarsia piece:

Then I requested a pattern of my best friend be made from a picture I posted on another scroll saw forum I joined. This is "Alex"

This is really turned in to my, relax and enjoy part of woodworking. I think it will help me relieve tension when I am stressed about some other project I may be working one.

Thanks for looking and hope to be posting more as I gain experience and confidence.

    Fantastic work.

As I am still working I find any type of woodworking relaxing. Not really ventured into scroll sawing and only just touch on this part of wood working.

They are all terrific projects but I do love the flag was it hand painted or air brushed?

It is hand painted before gluing the pieces to the backing. Finished with several coats of varnish. The free plans also include the plans for the Canadian flag.
