Fretwork decorated box
Hi everyone
I collect perfumes and the bain of my existence was those pesky little samples that perfumistas accumulate by the dozens. So David decided to make me a box to hold them. This was essentially made from scraps, plus a piece of Tasmanian blackwood that we brought back from holidays there a couple of years ago.
The box was nice, but he had used a piece of light timber as a contrast on top which we both felt needed something. In the end, he scrolled a little design to go on top. I think it added the missing element, and balanced the look of it nicely.
The thing about fretwork is that it can be used so prettily to enhance other features in wood. I love it used that way, although I am no a great fan of the more complex decorative pieces. They just don't suit my home decoration style. David, however, loves it and has the patience of a saint when it comes to doing it.
Cheers
Lili

Thanks Marg
I love it. It's actually better looking in the flesh than in the photo. And best of all, as usual 'the price is right' - it was made without going out and buying any new materials.
At odd times I buy bits of timber at shows etc. They get put away, and every so often he goes out and just produces something to fill my needs.
