Ok 3 weeks later and we are all set to go! Conversion kit worked great after a minor modification to the chassis Whole conversion took about 15 minutes.... so for $65 we converted a $250 (with first purchase discount of $50) 18" machine with a really crappy pinless blade adapter into one that works like a bought one! woohoo!

A great video on the conversion kit, how to fit it and use it can be seen at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0weS0EH8xVY

having a handy hubby round helped with this model because the yellow top plate had to be taken off and the sides of the chassis arm needed to be sawn off (pics below). Scroll saw still looks great and works like a dream for pinless changes now we have left the bottom side piece of the chassis off for now so its easier to see that you have the blade holder in the right place....

oh one other thing we upgraded was the alan key to set the blades. It was a bit of a pain because you could only turn it less than 90 degrees per turn yuk! So again handy hubby grabbed me an alan key screwdriver and its really simple to either change blades or reinsert blades now

the only other thing we needed outside of the kit was the piece of rubber that stops the blade from dropping anytime you let the top of the blade go glued that in and away we went unfortunately nothing to show you yet but there will be over the coming months cant wait!

So so far if anyone is looking for a quiet, low vibration, adjustable speed 18" scrollsaw for both pinned (you can rotate the adapter) and pinless blades for about $315 aussie dollars - I would recommend this one with the conversion kit its a great little machine for beginners - and perhaps more advanced... Only time will tell

Only downside now is auto cutoff so you cant use a foot pedal,,,, but apparently theres a way round that too which i will look into later on if I feel its needed

photo one shows the pieces we removed and the pieces that were cut off the chassis arm, plus the converter in place

Photo two shows the conversion kit from underneath (sorry its sideways!)

unfortunately the photos were taken as it was getting dark, so hopefully they look ok

    cheers!

Hi Cuddly....I'm Dave - new to this site. I read your posts re the Hafco saw and the problems with blade conversions. The post by Treecycle where it relates to the Olson kit; are you're saying that the Olson is the same, or similar, to the one you acquired? I'm interested as I'm having 7 kinds of trouble fitting pinless blades to the saw....
