Kookaburra
I have been inspired to a bit of fret work and have used a pattern from "Trusting Gibbsy" It is a Kookaburra. For those outside Australia it's one of out native birds.
The timber I have used is scrap that I think is some sort of maple. I found it in the waste bin at the local hardware shop. It had been a pallet. Thickness about 10mm.
The finish is two coats of linseed oil. One coat of sealer and polished with a bees wax finish.
The job gave me a lot of pleasure doing it at well as being pleased with the end reasult.
I am going to try and attach a photo. Something I have tried to do in the past with no success. If it doesn't get there will someone let me know please

Yep, the picture is there. I managed to pick up a nice little cheeseboard with this same pattern burned onto it. I got it with the intention of computerising the picture and then using it for scrollsawing. Well yours is nicely done and well finished.

Yes, nice work John. I like the fact you recycled pallet timber.

Drat, I thought my $5.00 kookaburra cheeseboard was a work of art by well known wood burner, and that I would soon be wealthy.
