Saw lubrication
I'm looking for support. I have a 16 inch General (Excalibur) scroll saw. I tuned it and have been very pleased with it's operation. However I have always wondered if the multiple bearings in in the pivots are sealed and as a result lubricated. So curiosity got the better of me and I looked inside and found that the bearings are not the sealed type. So I set about applying a very small amount of general purpose grease in them. I was then told that it is to heavy and to only use a very light machine oil. Even WD40. So I did that and the result has been outstanding. The oil can be applied by dropping a few drops onto the bearings with out dismantling them. Result zero vibration right through the speed range. I have worried that the oil might attract dust but to this stage after a couple of months that hasn't happened.
Has any one out there had any experience by doing the same with their saw? If so I would like to hear from you.

I have had my excalibur for five years [lots and lots of use]and used nothing but sticky chain[motor bike] oil in pressure pack with no issues, whatever works for you as long as you lube regually

Thanks for your reply Mature One. I'm pleased someone else has had a similar experience with the Excalibur saw. What surprises me is that there is no mention in the hand book or from any of the many people who comment on tuning and upkeep of the saw about lubricating those bearings.. It's so simple and so effective.
