    Default market seller items?

apologies for the post but I have had a search and can not find a post to answer my questions.

I am looking to make a little extra cash to help with my daughters school rowing costs and I have a scroll saw and was wondering if there are any particular items that sell well at markets or other places.

If there is a post or site that can give me some advice and or inspiration that would be sensationally helpful.

    Cheers heaps,

    Spanner

What sells well in one area might be a complete flop in another. It is a trial and error thing for where you sell.

If you have a scroll saw, perhaps try jig saw puzzles.

Hi Spanner at this time of year Christmas decorations & ornaments should sell well .I made 3D raindeer & they sold very well.maybe some angels etc that could hang on the tree but as Handyjack said you never know what will sell until you try. there is also fretwork & segmentation & toys you could try. Have a look at( scroll saw village) they are a very helpful lot with plenty of ideas & have a very good pattern library. Cheers Peter

These always seem to do well:

    1. Trivits. Either traditional fancy scrollwork patterns, or modern trendy stuff like dreamcatchers, howling wolves, fairies etc.

    2. Coasters... simply smaller versions of the above but actually give you more scope because a set of coasters featuring classic Holdens would sell whereas an FJ on a trivit would only appeal to very select clientelle!

    3. Tissue box covers. Basically a 5 sided cube, open at the bottom that can be placed over a box of tissues.

    4. Animal jigsaws. Wolf & big cat profiles made into simple jigsaws incorporating the name of the animal within the body.

    5. Cup holders! Simple wooden ring type cup holders with a little handle designed to hold those cheap cups you get from market coffee stalls.
Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.

I sell scroll saw patterns and most of my customers make projects for sale. According to my sales the most popular scroll saw projects now are bowls and layered projects. Here are some examples:
all my patterns (150 items) you can find at https://www.etsy.com/shop/AlexFoxUA

been there done that I made bowls and layered projects with patterns sourced from you I think they are great but the aussie taste seems to not like them and I had priced them VERY reasonably,Not being negative about patterns they are as I said great.

Good luck Spanner. I have been selling various wood work pieces for years. After trying many and varied items the best I have been able to do is earn enough to have a paying hobby. I hear every now and again about people who do succeed with sales and then I find out that they are selling at high tourist or in the more wealthy areas. As for what to make it seems that one day something sells and the next it is something else. I think it is just a matter of picking up on the many available things on offer and just try. I have been able to get a few sales from making trinket boxes but now that has died. I have tried hot air balloons and not much joy there and so it goes on

Good luck and I hope you prove me wrong. Just enjoy a very good inexpensive hobby. One satisfying parts of scrolling is finding suitable timber.

I had a market stall for over two years ,initially it went well but interest fell away after the first year. My products were very cheap because basically it was a hobby and it didn't cost me much just time [retired].location location is vital so while I was challenged to make a small profit it depends entirely where you setup.
