Default Important message for excalibur owners

Does the tip of your blade deform if so one simple solution adjust the grub screw oposite the plastic wing nut on the top arm to centre the blade. This was very frustrating for me as it does not suggest that in the manual. Also the models in the U.S are different to the ones here, the only part that is different is the blade locking mechanism. If you look on the bottom locking mechanism their top one is the same so therefore it is much easier and faster to insert the blade resulting in a much quicker work flow. Our model has a spring in it and according to Carba tec the blade must go through that spring which is a pain in the backside if your a very fast scroller.

The solution I have come up with is to adjust the arm height by turning the blade tensioning knob only so much that the top of the pinless blade is just underneath the bottom of the spring.
Now your blade will slide in and out easily without having the frustration of putting it into the spring and will also eliminate when breakage does occur the top half of the blade being stuck in that spring which can be a nightmare taking out.

Lastly the spring will over time and I suppost it all comes down to how much you use your saw will deform and without this spring you will not get proper blade tension. So I would stock up on springs if it is purchasable which I forgot to bloody ask because you never know when production will cease and parts become no longer available.

Well there's my two cents worth I hope this helps.

pull the spring out and throw it away I have never heard of the blade to go throw the spring before
one other thing can be a problem the grub screw on the other side of the blade holding screw can work is way out and will result in the same thing
    hope all this makes sense

Well your correct the grub was adjusted as I mentioned in the earlier post. But carba tec says without that spring you will not be able to tension the blade. Can I ask do you own the same saw and if so did you take out the spring and what was the result.

Mate what are you on about. I asked you what functional purpose does that spring hold. I'm asking your opinion since you claim you have an in depth knowledge.

As Patch suggested check his previous posts on the subject and you will see what he is on about and why he does not want to start it all over again.
