My first Project
G'Day everyone I am a new Scroller and I received my Ryobi Scroll Saw for a Christmas present.
I have downloaded a few of Steve Goods (Scrollsaw Workshop) free patterns from his emails that I signed up to a few weeks back, as well as some from his pattern gallery.
I have been doing OK with a practice pattern I googled and decided that today would be a good time to tackle an actual pattern.
So I decided that it should also be a project that I would use all the time in my little workshop.
One of Steve's patterns,The Pusher stuck out. So away I went, printed off the pattern, cut a piece of pine board to size and stuck on some Clear Contact, (yes I have been paying attention to Steve's emails) and applied some Spray Adhesive to the back of my pattern and mounted it onto the contact.
I and have found that the process of getting the blade through a drilled whole to make cut-outs, to be very tedious with the Ryobi, so I was only thinking of doing the handle cut-out and the outside cut. But as you will see from the 2 attached pictures, once I had made these first cuts my confidence rose and I decided to go ahead with the rest of the cut-outs. Got to have a go to learn after all, I said to myself.
I think I did pretty well for my first attempt so I thought I would show everyone here at the Scroll Saw forum how I went.

Well done. Looks pretty good for your first effort from a 'non scrollsaw woody's' view. Cheers, Fred

you should be able to get adaptor blade holders that make it easier to change the blade .I don't have a ryobi saw but i am sure you can google it and see.

Hi Rod You should be proud of your effort on that one .Came out good & you did an excellent job on the printing .Straight lines seem to give new scroll sawers a bit of trouble but you handled it brilliantly .I am guessing with your saw you have to feed the blade up from the bottom. You may have to save your pennies & eventually buy a top feeder. Cheers Peter

Thanks Peter and yes I have to bottom feed as the upper arm is rigid. I will certainly be looking out for a saw with quick tension release and a top feed.
