Another Great scroll saw job.....what type of timber & blades did you use and was there much sanding required.

That beard looks like a tricky area.

I am using a No. 3 FD reverse tooth but haven't tried others like spirals etc.

Thank you. It is done in Baltic Birch. 2 1/8" 8.5" x 11" stacked and third piece of scrap plywood on the bottom/ I use Flying Dutchman 3/0 New Spiral blades. I love them, in fact I ordered a gross of them today. I have not done any sanding on it yet and won't have to do much. After sanding I will apply a finish and then frame it. I'd like to find some old barn wood to frame it with. This really was not a hard pattern, no where near as time consuming as the Raccoon was. The eves always seem the most delicate part on most pictures. I just worry one hole at a time...

When you say "stacked"...you actually do 2 at a time (not counting the scrap) so you are scrolling through 3/8" with the spirals.

Double side tape between each sheet ?

    G'Day Paul,
You certainly know how to not only create a beautiful piece of scroll-sawing art but the subject matter is excellent and always with almost haunting eyes looking right at you....
    well done again, sir...

I haven't tried double sided tape. I've been afraid the the dust would get in between the boards and the tape would come loose during the scrolling or when done and trying to separate the board, which can be fragile something would break... maybe not, I don't know.

I wrap the top and around edges with clear packing tape. In the center area I drill some holes through what will be waste area and clue in some tooth picks to make sure the board stay together in that area. It has been working well.

Something else I am pondering trying is coating the back of the boards with shellac or something before I scroll the picture. I've been wondering if that might reduce the chip out and fuzzies that happen. I like to be able to eliminate the third piece of plywood.
