    Default Running Antelope

    I just finished cutting this last night. It is the second in a series of Native American portraits I hope to do. The pattern was done by Seyit. This is the most detailed pattern I have tried to date. It is also the first one I have tried doing with spiral blades. I am very glad I got brave and gave them a try. I love them. I learned they do not last as long as a regular blade. It took me 8 or so blades to complete this portrait. I used Flying Dutchman spirals, #3 and #`1.

    You redefine the term = patience. That I admire.

    Do you know anything of Running Antelope, the man?
    I'm curious.

    Pronghorn Antelope are creatures of the western plains. Genetically, related to Mountain Goats.
    "Speed Goats", they get called. They have 10X eyeballs = I have never seen one who was not already
    looking directly at me.
    Imagine driving at 100kph. 2 adults and 2 juveniles are matching me, running in the ditch.

    Google "jackalope" and see what you find. Stretched out, a jack can be a meter long!

    I've seen many antelope and tasted one. I do not know anything about the Native American, named Running Antelope, sorry to say.

    Did a little internet search and came up with this:

    Running Antelope or Tȟatȟóka Íŋyaŋke (1821–1896) became a head chief of the Hunkpapa in 1851. Known for his bravery in war, and skills in oratory and diplomacy, Running Antelope was one of four Hunkpapa principal chiefs who acted as close advisors to Sitting Bull during the Plains Indian Wars. His belief that compromise with the whites was in their best interests led to his eventually distancing himself from Sitting Bull. Perhaps one of the only American Indians depicted on U.S. paper money, the picture caused ill will as the Series 1899 $5 Silver Certificate pictured Running Antelope as a chief wearing a Pawnee head dress as the original Sioux head dress was too tall for the engraving.
