Default L-O-N-G Scroll sawn sign,- Literally !!

Desided to do a bit of self-promo here in Port Vincent, by designing, then cutting out a Scroll Sawn version of my website address, which when completed in, ( hopefully ) a few days time will be attached to the front of my house for all to see, and read as get tired of people stopping in the street and asking me, " Do you have a website ? "
The sign which is in my modified version of Commercial Script, ( similar to handwriting ), when completed will be about THREE metres in length x 100mm. high, and finished in White Acrylic house paint against Green striped shadecloth. Am using quality 12mm. Structual ply, ( 7 ply ), and, believe me, it took a few hours working out how to cut it out, which is the hard bit. The actual cutting is quite easy in comparison.
Question,- Will this be something of a record for a Scroll Saw Cut sign, or has someone somewhere cut one longer ????

When it is completed, painted, and in place there will be a photo on this site as," Proof. " which, ( who knows ), may give other members ideas too.

Would it have not been easier with a jig saw Roger. I imagine in my mind, a man running backwards and forwards across his yard steering a large sheet of plywood through a scrollsaw. LOL

Did try my Jigsaw with a scroll blade fitted,- BUT cuting sharp corners was much too complicated, and required much backing out, and trying again, plus saw cut was too rough for my liking, so devised a heaps better way to cut everything on my scroll saw,- AND did the whole job sitting down on a chair in front of my scroll saw. Took me a couple of hours but I got there, and the end result is a very neat and tidy job too.
made it all by myself without any helpers. My elderly neighbour came in the shed and watched me cutting the sign for a while,- totally fascinated with what I was doing.
Like I said in at the start of this thread,- It's how I worked out how to make the sign in the first place.
Question,- " How would YOU have made it ???
    Remember it is 2.7 metres, ( 9ft ), in length .

    Yes, where's the pictures Roger?

From where I see it (pun intended) I think you used a spiral blade, and had a set of of rollers or four on each side of the saw for tailing out and feeding in.

As for now, I think you would hold the world record for such a sign. If I say that in a public forum, someone is bound to show us we're all wrong.

In any case well done Roger, and I can't wait to see the picture, or do I have to come ovber there and drive around your city for a day. H,mm. I may bring some crab nets as well.

    Default L-O-N-G Scroll Sawn Sign

Buzza;- The completed sign is in this thread, Finally got round to putting photos on a few days ago, as had to wait for the Moderator to give me permission to do so,- just in case someone from somewhere, " Jumped up, & down, " saying, " Remove it,- that's advertising. " and since I did NOT wish to step, ( " Jump," ) on any toes, I waited for permission. ( although I had to, " Jolt 's memory,' to get it. )
Secret to how I did it,- Neatly cut the sign in sections, then attached each completed section, after painting to a narrow backing board. Also used a standard No. 9 Pebeco Blade in my Hegner. Broke two blades on the L-O-N-G cutting job, both times turning too sharp, & fast, without watching where the protruding end of the sign section was, also poked myself in the ribs several times when turning the sign sections around
All I need to do now is to attach the signboard to the front of my house here in Port Vincent,- when I have some spare time, and a couple of extra sets of spare hands to hold it in place while I attach it- that's the only problem with something extra long,- its either try to be, "an octopus with elastic arms, " ( would be handy at times ), or find a couple of useful helpers.

Default Missing Photos of L-O-N-G Sign !!!!!!

Ruddy, Patch, Buzza, and everyone else;- You guys short-sighted, or can't see the wood for the trees, or something like that ??????

The Photos are on this Thread;- L-O-O-K for Thread titled;- " How's this for a Scroll Sawn Sign ? "

The sign is now in One piece, waiting for me to find a couple of helpers to attach it to the front of my Germein Street, home, here in Port Vincent.

I do NOT claim the sign to be a record for it's length, as somewhere there's bound to be a longer, higher, or BIGGER sign.
** I simply put the sign here to show other Scrollers what one can do with the humble Scroll Saw, with a bit of creative imagination

Yes Roger, I acknowledged in that thread on the 15th, a day before you posted about us old chaps not seeing the wood for trees. You can easily confuse old people with two threads, but I found it.
