Scrollsawing in living room.
We have come off the farm and are now in a flat. May I scrollsaw in the living room. Would there be too much dust?
Thank you and an happy, successful New Year to all.

As long as you don't have carpet.
A wood floor or lino and you can sweep, vaccy up.
They don't send clouds of dust everywhere (a light sprinkle maybe).
Most of my dust (97%) just drops down into or underneath the machine.
Went to scrollsaw weekend where there was 15-20 going for 2 days non=stop and not that much dust that wasn't under the machine.
couldn't really see what was on the rest of the floor.

I can see the LOYL sitting trying to watch her fav shows and the volume slowly being turned up...........quick race out today and buy her a belated Christmas present of WiFi headphones noise cancelling little exy but she'll love you for them. This will allow the use of a a suction device to be fitted and keep the mess and fights to a min.
I knew of a fellow who had his mini lathe set up in his lounge room if that helps

Thanks very much, you three coves. I am grateful.
Crowie, if you do not mind, what do you mean by 'attach a good vac. to dust port', please?
Tape the hose to the port?
If my wife does not like the idea of scrolling in the living room I shall look at doing it on the
enclosed balcony but, coming from a farm house to a flat means there are cardboard cartons
standing everywhere and space is very limited.
Many thanks again.

Thanks again, crowie. I am concerned about the noise of the vac. in the same room as the tv.
Could I tape a plastic shopping bag over the exhaust outlet tube, please?

If you do that the motor will overheat and die.
In terms of your health, nearly all vacuum cleaners make more very fine dust than they pick up so they should not be used for continuous use in the same room as people. The older the vacuum cleaner the more fine dust they make. There is an easy way around this and that is to locate the vacuum cleaner outside and use 50 mm hose to extract the dust from where you are working - this also reduces the noise problem significantly.

Thank you, BobL. I think I shall try to clear a space on the balcony. It has a concrete floor.
