Thread: Spray adhesive for patterns.

I got my A4 Avery removable stickers, ( LABEL AVERY LASER L7167REV 1L-25SH REMOVABLE ), today - perfect. I didn't really need to use a sheet yet, but did a test today. It works great and is really handy if you don't quite lay the pattern down straight the first time. Peels straight off. When removed, there's absolutely no glue residue left on the workpiece.
As mentioned, a little expensive, but well worth it in my opinion.

Besides being able to print on it with a laser printer, it has a normal paper face, so it can be drawn on with pens and pencils, too. Also, it's thin enough to trace a pattern onto, especially with a little light from underneath, although it's not necessary.

Thanks for pointing me in the directon of Avery, Mike_R. Sure beats my old method, and no messy glue residue to clean up.

I am glad you are happy with the outcome. I agree it sure beats the old way of spray adhesives!

Officeworks sell A4 size self adhesive mailing labels (two brands) for around $30 for 100 sheets, very competitive compared with the cost of spray-on adhesives. Just copy straight on to the label and apply to dust free wood. They have a permanent adhesive - you would not want a label that falls off in the post! - but they come off easily using White Spirits (dry cleaning fluid - Bunnings sells it). I find these labels do not come free of the wood when cutting on the scroll saw.

Alternatively, try 3M Scotch Blue painter's tape which leaves no residue on the wood when removed. Cover the wood with the tape then glue the pattern on top of the tape.
