TruPro, WMS .....
Does anyone know where to get either the TruPro or WMS scroll saw?
WMS doesn't sell them anymore..... and Carrolls supposedly just sold the last one and they are doubling their price of the new supply that's coming in! DOUBLE!!!!!!!!
That's nuts..... that puts them up there with the Excalibur and lowest price Hegner.
Boy am I glad I got one of the last Delta saws for back up! That doesn't help other people in the club tho.... really need to find a TruPro....
Thanks for any help

Thanks for the price info on the Tru Pro saw Jutta.
I gues the economic situation is clicking in. I have just bought a new computer and was told that I bought at the right time because any future imports are going to increase in price. The statment sounds as though it has been proved.
I have made coment on my Tru Pro before saying what an exelent saw it is. I have also just read about vibration problems with another brand costing almost double. My saw sits on a home made stand with three rollers. It isn't tied down. all I do is let it push back onto my lathe so it doesn't roll awy from me and away I go sawing to my hearts content.
I would suggest that any one thinking about buying one of these saws that they jump in and see if there are any left at the currant price

I just checked.... Carrolls STILL advertise the TruPro for the old price and it STILL says it's available
http://www.cws.au.com/cgi/index.cgi/..._id=1107452380
I know they've edited the site on the 7th as they added new items.... so if they didn't change the price at that time..... I think they should honour it. Telling us they sold the last one and that the new ones will be much higher doesn't seem right.

Have amended pricing to new price.
Juvy you can now get of your high horse.
I have no control over the price I just sell them.
Excaliburs have gone up slightly but still going out the door easily and with the Trupro now dearer it is easier to upsell to a better saw.Jim Carroll

I am sorry I upset you Jim, I do apologize
I do not believe I was sitting on any high horse tho.... I was a bit upset that I had to disappoint a customer that's all.

Hi Jutta and fellow scrollsawyers
I guess its been in the wind since the economic crash that we will pay more for all items manufactured overseas, and even manufactured locally. The Aus. dollar has nosedived against all major currencies, and those people who had plenty of foresight, bought what they wanted immediately a few months ago.
Aus. is pretty much at the mercy of world markets since manufacturing and value adding has been lost to our community. Our metals, even steel sheet, are imported and the cost we pay reflects foreign currency exchange rates.
I recently looked on the net to try to get some sheet steel, or copper sheet for Dave to scroll saw some goodies, and was shocked at the price. However, all their items (despite them being an Australian metals company) were from England and Germany.
I don't think any of us should beat our suppliers over the head with prices, because they are at the end of a chain, over which they have no control.
When I think I'm seeing a price that is steep, I often look at overseas prices and see that we're still doing well, compared with Britain and Europe generally. Only the US is a little cheaper, but that may well reflect two factors - lower freight and bigger market.
Regards
LiliB

I agree with you LiliB, as you can see we also are a supplier, just on the very bottom of the chain, we are a very small home business, so I do understand those problems.
Because our customers mostly come to the house, have a cup of coffee with us and have long chats we get a bit close to them. Most have become friends.
It is really upsetting when you have to look a friend in the eye when you have to give them bad news, much easier when you can do that to a stranger via e-mail or on the phone. It does give you a big incentive to try your best to get them what they ask for and that's the reason I got a bit pushy.
Again.... I apologize

keju - If you have a problem with Jim or any other supplier take it to them in person, DON'T bring it onto the forums and try to make respected and honest suppliers look bad because you're not happy.
Bad form, wrong place.

This one has gone right out of hand. Usualy I wouldn't enter into this sort of thing but as a mediator I would like to.
I have met Jutta a couple of times and have found her to be a very socialy acceptable person who wouldn't intentionaly harm any one. I have also bought a few Items from her. I found her a very helpfull retailer in her home based bussiness
I have also done bussiness with Jim Carroll when I bought my saw and I spoke to him on the phone when there was a delivery hick up. Jim was very pleasant about the hick up and stood the replacement cost himself even though it was the transports doing. I would recomend him to any one doing bussiness and I do feel for him at this economical time
I think the whole communication has been a miss understanding and it should be droped by us all with no hard feelings

Pricing
Hello,
I have a young family with 2 children, one 3yo and the other 6yo, i am the sole income earner and we do not have much left out of the weekly budget after all the bills and morgage is paid, let alone put a bit away for my wood work tools to build my work shop up which has become a bit of a passion (im sure you all know what i mean there).
Im sorry to say that reading this post becomes at a bit of disappointment, i have experienced first hand how miss advetised products can become very upsetting.
When you put alot of research (hours and hours, reading forums, testomonies and specs) into a product to find the most suitable within your budget and means, only to find out that the product is unavailable or the price has changed from the advertised price, it becomes very frustrating. you nearly start from scratch, because by the time you put away the extra money to either purchase the next best choice or the increased price it becomes a vicious circle so you end up buying the the product that was below your price and is an inferior product(which normal needs modification, or is more difficult to use) and you loose the enjoyment that a new machine should bring.
I'm sorry to say that i must agree with Juvy as it is not hard to update a web page to display the correct price information(or call for price) or the product is unavailable. This only takes minutes to do.
This all should of been taken as constructive criticism and nothing more, sorry to see that it has gone this far. I hope this helps your business become more efficient so these details do not become an issue in the future and help build trust with your client base. These minor details in running a business can cost alot of customers.
PS. thanks to both the Jim and Jutta in their envolvement with the forums and the business i have done with both.

WMS Scrollsaw Pricing
Hello All, I spend a lot of time reading valuable information on this forum but have never felt compelled to write a response, but here I am.
Hi there Rod Rocket, Yes Like you I am a little puzzled at all of the fuss and bother.
Firstly I have the famous WMS scroll saw and it works like a wonder for me, I have compared it with Hegner and Excalibur and for the price that I paid for it I believe I got a great bargain. If the price has gone up double I would be wondering what the heck is going on? Yes I am aware of the international financial crisis but i would think that such a hike for a product that was made in China probably before the major collapse somebody is making huge profits; probably like petrol pricing with retail prices that escalate when the crude price is coming down.
Having got that off my chest, I think that we all visit forum sites for advice and assistance from others who have researched products and to that end I thank them for their help. I have met Jutta personally and I believe that her comments were made out of concern for others and not just for herself, she is a very compassionate lady and as such I do not find her comments inappropriate. She has apologized to Jim Carrol on this site and as such I find the comments from U Beaut out of place, if you want only comments made that you approve then this is tantamount to Censorship. Jim Carroll, I would have thought that you would appreciate getting firsthand feedback on what others say about your business and here is a great opportunity, instead you spit the dummy. Some further feedback for you is I do not buy scroll blades from you because you charge double that of one of your competitors.
If Jutta's comments have offended some then I say to get on with your life if this is the worst that is ever said about you then you are blessed.

Price of Saws
Hi, I am actually looking for a new saw myself and find that with the economic problems Australia is facing, (and not being bitchy), that I also agree with Juvy. I am a disabled pensioner with little money to myself after paying for my car (also rego & insurance), rent, normal bills and saving up for a new saw... Money doesn't grow on trees!
Jim, I am not being a tyrant, but if a price change is on the horizon, it should (in my opinion), have been on the site before being done warning of the price rise. A rise of $400 or so is steep for many people.
Red Rocket, I do the same looking on the internet to see what is being offered and not necessarily getting the cheaper version, but the BETTER version.
The new Tru Pro saw must be alot better for the price then!

Jim If you read the whole post there is no dummy spit.
Juvy pointed out that I had not updated our web site, I immediatly did that as Rod indicates it only takes a few minutes and at this time of year things can get missed easily due to customers wanting things yesterday and not getting it till tomorrow.
I have never indicated that we are the cheapest in any product, we do try to be competitive and if you compare horses for horses then you will find we are cheaper with our blades.
You have the choice to shop wherever you like and when you like.
As this is your first post may there be many more and with your support of the forum may your time here be a happy one.
Jax we do not put prices up till we have run out of the old stock. All gone now at the old price so new price is indicated and if anyone wants one we will have stock by the end of the week.Jim Carroll
