Too much vibration in EX. 30" plz help
I've had the Excalibur 30" for about 5 years, I've sent it into Carba tec twice and Andrew bless his soul replaced everything you can safely say he rebuilt it but now after several years the upper arm is vibrating too much which is making it difficult in cutting thin stock. The vibration is at it's worst when the speed is up around 70-80%, I thought at first the bolt needs tightening in the upper arm but its tight enough, I also tightened the lower bolt and still it's vibrating. I don't know what else to do. Maybe something on the rod has come loose and I don't know how to get to it.
If anyone has any idea or even experienced the same then let me know. BTW if you want to tighten the upper arm bolt you don't need to modify any spanner just unscrew the back plastic cover and lift it out a little and get in from underneath using an 8mm spanner. Don't know why people suggested bending a spanner.

I have the 21 exc and initially it broke the upper arm because of the locking nuts not being tightened.Having said that the saw once I repaired it [ only did about two hours before break] the saw is fantastic. I found that if you want satisfaction from carbatec you have to talk to the repair guys who are very helpful. The saw has been flat out for almost three years and I couldn't be happier,a fluke when you have purchased anything from crapatec.

I've spoke to Andrew and it seems it may be a circuit board issue, yep you would never think electricity could cause vibration but I know we also changed the circuit board. I know this saw will vibrate at a certain speed they all do but here is a list to eliminate much of the vibration by correct calibration. First the blade has to be centered between the grub and locking screw, not exactly sure how you would execute this precision, secondly the back of the upper arm must be parallel with it's front so mine is 2 3/4" measured from the back so I raise the arm to meet that same measurement. Also make sure your bearings are lubricated and not out of place by opening that window plate on the opposite side of the motor, some times the screw become loose on the arm and as I mentioned above you don't need to modify a spanner to get to it, just unscrew and pull back the plastic black cover and get in from underneath you will need an 8mm spanner and an allen key for that.
Other than that there's not much you can do to this saw I have to say I miss my old delta and if you can find one you will never have these problems. They say Hegner is good but for the kind of work I do it's too small. Maybe I will just end up building own from wood a foot powered one, the only part that I will find difficult is working on large pieces, not sure how I can spin the work without my body getting in the way and powering saw with my foot at the same time.
I'm still laughing at DiRob's word "crapatec" That's the problem with businesses now a days they all want to pay next to nothing for their stock but sell it for a ridiculous amount and then waste your time and more money on getting it fixed when it should be working as advertised. This is one reason I woodwork by hand, I may break down but my hand tools will continue to work for the next generation and the one after that, you can't get any better than that.

Check that the grub screws which holds the blade are in line, so the blade runs in the center of the cramps.

Thanks for your suggestion but I did suggest the same thing above having said that I rechecked the blade positioning and no it wasn't centered and yes there is a small improvement. The vibration is at it's worst when the speed knob is turned in it's 3/4 position but when turned up to go faster the vibration is at minimal which I know this will not cause me any problems except for one thing; blade breakage. The blades I use most is 1/0, 2/0, 3/0 but 2/0 is the most used, now this is fairly thin and I know there are several versions of 2/0. With the blade cutting at such high speeds it will break in a very short amount of time due to the heat build up so the speed needs to be turned down atleast half way but there is vibration half way and I think it's enough to throw me off however, turned down to alteast 1/4 is optimal as there is no vibration but I will be there scrolling till kingdom come so I'm still up the creek with no real solution to my problem. I feel like taking General International through the courts for their false advertising and for just pissing me off. This would be a great thing and if I won it would make every company out there think twice before producing .

if the saw is relatively new General claim that the saw has life time warranty ,have you attacked the problem with our favourite crapatec bods I know from experience that they are a hard nut to crack but you never know.

I have mentioned above that I spoke to Andrew, he thinks it's a circuit board issue. The saw is about 5 years old irrespective of its age the parts are about two years old and better than the crap that came with it. I have written to general and asked them for assistance, I have not received a reply. So much for service but I am seriously now considering on taking this matter further as I have had enough of these companies profiteering on crap while they claim it to be the best. Now they can put their money where their mouths are and I'm hoping to create such a sh*t storm that will force a change in manufacturing. We need to start making these companies be held accountable for their actions.

I still haven't received a reply, they all think they are untouchable. They can laugh and call their gooney lawyers but bad advertising pasted all over the net would wipe that grin off their face.
