    Default Wooden Pegs

Does anybody know where I can find some wooden pegs from? I would like to use them on a coat rack I am making but can't find them anywhere (except one site that wants to charge a lot just for postage on a $4 item :/).
I was thinking of using dowel but as it ill be for children I would prefer something with a rounded edge.

    Thanks

Try a craft place, something like Spotlight? Bunnings have a craft isle too, they might have something like what you are after.

    Default Here's where to look;-

In the Classifieds section of The Australian woodworker magazine there's a regular Ad for, " Wood Turnings for your Toy and Craft Projects. "
Business name,- Jascar ( Aust ) P/L, 10 Parorama Ave, Lower Plenty, Vic 3093
    Ph / Fax. ( 03 ) 9439 8367. Email; [email protected]

They have all sorts of interesting things there.
Bought some, " Shaker pegs," there a little while ago for a Coat Rack, which would be the same type of " Pegs, " that you are looking for. The, " Pegs, " are available in varying lengths & diameters too. I found Jascar prices, and postage quite reasonable compared to another company who advertises a similar range of products.

Thanks for the offer Colbra. I will keep you in mind for next time, I just received some from the US (took 5 weeks but it got here lol). I bought 100 to keep me well stocked for now. I am just near Gosford so will definitely be an easier option next time

Haha No I have my own little hobby/business (something to do whilst being home with my children and to give me a little pocket money), mostly I stick to scrolling children's names and business signage and a few other bits and pieces, but apparently coat hangers and the like are wanted at the moment, so they will get used (once I go and get the right bit so I can attach them).

Postage wasn't so bad roughly $20, fully trackable. Given that the pegs were a lot cheaper then here ($0.20 compared to $1.20) it still worked out cheaper, plus getting a whole lot at once means I don't have to get any more in a hurry lol.

    Default Hi Natty

Hi Natty I am not the sharpest tool in the shed at the start of communicating with you I did not realize that you were a lady, not that it matters at all I think its great that you are doing woodwork and making some money as well: are you self taught or did you do some courses or maybe a woodworking club.

I wish my daughter had the same interests, she is also married and has two boys 3 and 5 the main thing I do is make toys for them if you go to my Pictures & Albums you will see what I do as well a picture of the boys and my work shed.

The other resource you could use is the Gosford mens shed you can make any thing there or they would make it for you or show you how. I expect you are a lot busier than myself I am retired and travel a lot with my wife in our caravan we have just come back from Fiji we went with My Daughter her Husband and the two Boys. Hope you don't mind me chatting on I have been on the forum for a few year and enjoy talking to all

Lol that's fine, a lot of the men who pass by at markets are all quite suprised that I do all the woodwork myself. I actually really enjoy it (not the 30 degree days and having to get 90 m's all cut in the heat). I did design and technology at school and they did include a very small amount of woodwork - though being a girls school it wasn't alot. So I got the basics from there and most of the time I google or ask on here if there is something I am unsure of or something that I would like to try (husband is not very handy lol).

Though my skills are still very basic compared to a lot of the things I see some scroller's post on here, I look on in amazement.

I would love to learn how to do more things - its just finding the time and somewhere to do it. I have seen the men's shed, but wasn't sure if it was open to everyone or not lol. As I would love to learn how to actually make a piece of furniture or learn different joins ect.

Sorry for the slow reply Colbra, have been busy trying to get my Christmas orders out before I have this next baby lol.

I'm sure they would love a tree house, my brother has built my nephews a fort and it's all they could talk about when I saw them on the weekend.

I tried to put some photos on my profile, but couldn't quite work it out. I have taken most of my work off my made it store, so I can slow down orders, though here is a link to my facebook page (you can view it without having to sign up). Like I said still learning so I mainly stick to signs and names at the moment, though I have been asked to do a wooden pretend laptop, so I may need to pick some brains about the best way to do it, I have an idea, so will test that out first lol.
