Default Best Glue for Blackwood mitre cut joins -yellow stain issue

    Hi guys,

Just wondering the best glue to use when gluing tasmanian blackwood box sides together.

The mitres are 45 degrees cut and joined.

I have used Titebond 3 and I am finding that yellow stains emerge near the corners on the face of the timbers once the glue dries after a week or so.

Never experienced this before though I have been out of the trade for a long time.

Once sanded its all ok. Have not tried applying a finish and see what happens.

The timber could be reacting to the yellow glue not sure.

Does anyone have any recommendations in which glue to use?

    Thanks in advance.

Blackwood turns the glue green. It happens with Titebond II and Titebond III. It doesn't happen with Titebond original.

    Hi,

I use Titebond II for all my glue joints and I have seen the yellow droplets form at the mitres as you say. They always go when I start sanding and finishing and by the time I'm finished, there isn't an issue. BTW, what finish are you going to use?

    Regards,

    Rob

I use both Aquadhere interior and Titebond original on blackwood, neither of these glues will turn blackwood green.
