Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the various hardeners for urea formaldehyde glues. In particular I am looking at using AV Syntecs AV203 and can’t decide on what hardener – filled, unfilled, or liquid.

I understand the filled hardener dries to give you an off-white glue line whereas the other two give you clear glue lines, which sounds like what I’m looking for. But what’s the difference between the unfilled powder and the liquid (aside from the obvious)? Any down sides compared with the filled powder?

Cheers,
Gibbo.

ps. If it helps, I’m building a cabinet out of jarrah veneered particle board and solid jarrah – using AV203 to do edge joints between solid jarrah (for the top surface – hence clear glue line) and need something with a long open time for the rest of the case assembly.
