    Default I need YOUR help!

    Hi all,

I'm perplexed as to how this glass insert is held while the piece is inverted. I assume it is glued? I am currently working on a similar
project and can't seem to understand how this is glued (if this is the case) without any fogging or marks on the glass.

Attached image is Greg Klassens work.

    Cheers,

    Mulch

I agree with Bob L. Clear setting epoxy, or maybe Silastic?

    Regards,

To be truly invisible, the clear epoxy needs to have the same refractive index as glass. The stuff that Windscreens O'Brien use to fill chips and cracks in windscreens is one example.

You can buy DIY windscreen repair kits at AutoPro etc. that presumably contain clear epoxy with the same optical properties.

If you watch the windscreen repair being done, they may use a very bright blue light to supply some UV light for rapid polymerization as many dentists do.
That implies that the medium is methacrylate, not epoxy (which is thermosetting with a different catalyst.)
Long ago, our greatest nuisance was bubbles. Out-gassing the mix was essential, even if you believe you can't see bubbles.
