Hot Melt Edge bander for shed/garage set up
Hi I'm after advice .....
I run a small cabinet making business out of my van with
renting time for building my jobs at another cabinet shop
but they have increased the amounts I pay so
For now I'm looking to cut & edge cabinets in my shed/garage as
renting a unit isn't cost affective as work is up and down
Anyone have any ideas if there are small hot melt abs edge banders
that at could be used in a shed/garage on single phase
or if you have any other ideas or view MORE than happy
to hear
benchtops ordered in
also vinyl wrapped doors
thanks in advance Rich

The Conturo is hand held, edging a whole kitchen like that sounds rather unpleasant
Machines4u might have edgebanders second hand, but single phase might be harder to find. Still worth checking their website

Pre-glued is generally 0.5mm melamine edging with glue already applied. You activate it with heat (usually a heat gun or iron) and press it on by hand.
Hot melt uses granulated polyurethane glue that's heated and applied to the board edge, then 1-2mm ABS or PVC is pressed on. It can only be done by machine and the edging is much tougher.

There is nothing wrong with the pre glued edge tape. I have used it for years on kitchens and vanity's applying it with a clothes iron and to my knowledge there have been no failures. Pre glued edge bander's can be had for a few hundred dollars.

double.d, the OP is looking for an abs hot melt edgebander even though for smallish jobs I agree pre glued edge tape can be fine. 2 or 3mm abs edging is a much more professional tape in my opinion - longer wearing, not as sharp etc
Caninetz what is your budget for one of these ? Secondhand ones on ebay I've seen from $3000 and up to $20,000 And can you fit one in your garage? All the ones I've seen in the past tend to be reasonably big.

Obvious the OP can't take a bit of tongue in cheek, as he is a one post wonder.
