Thread: removing adhesive from unfinished wood

Scrape it off with a sharp chisel or card scraper perhaps?

I like cava's concept = card scraper.

Me? If I did not believe that the adhesive would soak very far into the wood.
Make a small pad of paper towel with a sprinkle of vegetable oil (solvent for tape glue).
Lay that over the patch and heat well with a clothes iron. Move, press. Move, press. Move, press.
Then the same with dry paper towel = no oil.

A little late but perhaps for future reference, I remove any stickers, labels, tapes etc from raw wood using Shellite.

Place a folded tissue over the labels etc and thoroughly wet with Shellite, wait a couple of minutes and the label slides off, wipe up any leftover glue with the damp tissue and you are done. Doesn’t appear to affect the timber in any way such as lightening or raising the grain and have never had any issues with finishing over the areas where they were.
