Rubber on Timber
I have just made a fishing rod rack using Tassie Oak. Fairly basic set up, with a bottom level with counter-sunk holes and an upper level to hold onto the middle sections of the rods. I have individual rubber rod holders which I plan to glue to the upper level. I could make a recess for them to sit in, but I would need to do 24 of them so that's a bit too much chisel work so I plan to use CA or epoxy to glue the rubber holders to the face of the upper level. Has anyone had any experience using CA to glue rubber onto timber?

I can't answer your question but here's something to think on, eventually rubber ages and dries/cracks. You might want to replace it when this happens, if so plan now.

I have glued rubber with CA, but I used the rubberised version (black one), I thought the normal stuff would be too brittle. I would have thought normal contact adhesive would work too.

Good point son-of-bluegras, it will need to be replaced at some point. And thanks dai sensei, I was thinking contact adhesive just wasn't sure. I will trial CA and contact adhesive on a test piece and see how I go.
