| | Separating glue from wax Yello, I have a large quantity (60 lts +) of PVA used in the manufacture of Tri-board. The glue has wax mixed in with it.
Any ideas how to separate the two?

| | You might be able to separate by letting it sit and the wax may come to the surface.

Any idea how, and why, the wax got there in the first place?
Cheers,

| | It has been sitting for a while now so will see if that helps.
The glue has the wax mixed in at manufacture, I think it's a heat-setting glue |

| | Most waxes melt in the 55C - 65C range. Can you hold a sample (1-2 liters) for 24hrs at that temp to see if the wax floats?
I started doing tissue histology (embedding/sectioning.staining = microscope slides) more than 40 yrs ago.
The so-called "wax" could be some tricked-up mess of short-chain, synthetic plastic polymers, too. Seen/used that before ( = crap). |

| | It does for a while then releases. Tri-board is a particle board mixture laminated under pressure and heat between two sheets of hardboard type material |

| | Put a small quantity in the oven at about 50-80 degrees C, a thin film appeared after about an hour and a half.
Let it cool down overnight then scraped off the congealed stuff on top, am testing some now, tastes like cr*p |
