Default Stabilising blackbutt - epoxy recommendations?

    Hello gurus,

I'm working on some solid frame and panel doors in blackbut and have a few defects (cracks and a loose knot) to sort out. My plan at the moment is to dam the underside and fill will a tinted epoxy.

As I haven't worked with epoxy much, I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a specific type or preferrably a brand and supplier suitable to this application. I only really need a small quantity.

I'm guessing I need a gap-filling product as the cracks are wide and deep in a few places.

    Thanks in advance!

If they're only small you could even do it with 5-minute epoxy, you can get that from most hardware stores

Sounds like you are casting not stabilising. What do you call a small quantity? How wide are the cracks/defects will govern. If they are ~5mm wide then the clear epoxy glues will be fine. If larger than that then you will need a casting epoxy unless you are going to use a filler (like sawdust) with the tint.

I've used west systems epoxy. Not for massive fills though. I tend to avoid timbers with gum veins and knots for that very reason.

Went with the K36 and black pigment from Kirkside Products in Osborne Park. Haven't mixed it up yet but looks to be about what I need.
